Coating Thickness Gauge (mechanical)

MikroTest 6 G

Magnetic coating thickness gauge MikroTest 6 G for fast, accurate and non-destructive measurement of coatings such as:

  • galvanic layers
  • paint

etc. on steel

  • Measurement without current
  • Calibration-free
  • Can be used in all layers
  • Fully automatic measuring process

Measuring principle and description:

The measurement of the coating thickness is based on a magnetic holding force measurement. The holding force depends on the distance between a permanent magnet and the steel base. This distance is given by the thickness of the non-magnetic layer to be measured.

The magnet is lifted by a measuring spring that exerts a counterforce to the magnetic holding force. The force applied or the angle of rotation of a torsion spring is a direct indicator of the layer thickness. The process is also well applicable for electroplated nickel coatings on copper, aluminium and other non-ferrous metals.

Technical features:

Instrument features that make your quality control even more reliable and accurate:
