Adhesion

The adhesive qualities of coating material are of decisive importance to enable the material to meet the basic functions of protection and decoration. Sometimes protection and decoration can be considered separately but generally both apply. A world wide well known adhesion test is the Cross Cut test. This Cross Cut Test can be done manually (model 295) or automatically (model 430P). Depending on the constitution of the operator the knives of the manual testers can penetrate deeper or less deeper into the substrate. The automatic testing machines work with a constant force, a better repeatability and comparability of test results is given. A further well known test method is the Pull-Off-Test, please have a look at our model 525.

Product Examples:

Multi-Cross Cutter, Models 295

The ERICHSEN Cross Hatch Cutter 295 is a hand operated instrument at an advantageous price that meets the requirements of all cross-cut test standards. Model 295 consists of an ergonomically designed hand grip into which the cutting head is fitted in an adjustable manner to enable the instrument to be operated in a way which is most comfortable to the user. Various versions with different cutting heads are available.

SCRATCH HARDNESS TESTER 430 P

The motor-driven SCRATCH HARDNESS TESTER 430 P is a universal testing instrument designed for carrying out a wide range of tests on varnished and plastic surfaces to determine their resistance to scratches and cuts. Single cuts, parallel cuts and - by turning the specimen by 90° - cross-cuts can be applied to test panels of various thicknesses. The SCRATCH HARDNESS TESTER 430 P is particularly provided for adhesion tests using the cross hatch cut method (in accordance with all mostly required standards) and for specific plastics tests according with Opel (scratch resistance and writing effect). For these as well as for further tests numerous setting possibilites on the basic instrument and a large variety of test tools are available.

Adhesion Test Apparatus, Model 525

The Adhesion Test Apparatus, Model 525, measures adhesion using the adhesion test acc. to ASTM D 4541. All coating materials to which a test cylinder can be stuck with existing adhesives can be examined. The apparatus is entirely mechanical and requires no electrical supply, which makes it particularly suitable for applications in the field requiring mobile equipment. Model 525 is of robust construction and easy to operate making it ideal for applications under severe operating conditions.
